| Spanish abstract | En este trabajo analizo la función de los niños en Poeta en Nueva York, tema constante a lo largo de su obra y con gran presencia en este poemario, pero que no ha motivado un estudio detallado. Los niños, presentados como víctimas y verdugos de una sociedad en decadencia, tienen un papel central: son la metáfora lorquiana para denunciar los vicios del mundo urbano; los infantes sufren, agonizan, mueren, actúan despreciablemente y, al mismo tiempo, reflejan la impotencia del poeta frente a la catarsis que provocó su viaje a la gran ciudad |
| English abstract | In this article I study the children’s function in Poeta en Nueva York, matter that appears constantly in his work, but it hasn’t had studies that analyze the symbology. The children are victims and tyrants of a decadent society and, for that, they have a central part in the poems: they’re the metaphor that describes the vices of the urban world. Those kids suffer, agonize and die; their behavior is despicable but, at the same time, reflects Lorca’s catharsis during his visit to the big city |
