| Spanish abstract | Este trabajo da cuenta de las transformaciones que operaron en la gran minería boliviana a fi nes del siglo XX, luego de la crisis que venía arrastrándose desde 1985 en la explotación del estaño. La caracterización de esta crisis se hace a través de la descripción y los resultados de las demandas de los distintos movimientos sociales y de trabajadores que fueron surgiendo en el proceso de reestructuración de la propiedad minera, poniendo especial énfasis en rol que jugó el Estado boliviano en la redistribución de dicha propiedad. La relevancia que había alcanzado la explotación minera para la economía boliviana, particularmente para las arcas fiscales, va perdiendo su peso a través del conjunto de medidas de los Gobiernos de turno que posibilitan la privatización de la propiedad minera y la consolidación de una economía de mercado, que fortalece las inversiones privadas nacionales y extranjeras en sectores estratégicos de la economía boliviana |
| English abstract | This paper shows the changes that brought about in the great Bolivian mining industry at the end of the twentieth century, after the crisis that has been dragging on since 1985 in the exploitation of tin. The characterization of this crisis is drawn through the description and results of the demands of the different social and workers’ movements that came up in the process of restructuring of the mining property, especially emphasizing the role that the Bolivian state played in the redistribution of that property. The importance that the mining exploitation had caught up for the Bolivian economy, particularly for the fi scal coffers, is losing infl uence through the collection of measures of the Government of the moment that make the privatization of the mining property and the consolidation of a market economy possible, that strengthen national and foreign private investments in strategic sectors of the Bolivian economy |
