| English abstract | Over the last thirty years, significant changes in the Protestant religious field have been observed, such as the pentecostalização (pentecostalization) of Protestant historical groups, its expansion in the political arena, and, the focus of this article, the behavioral changes in the Pentecostal evangelical churches in face of social problems present in the everyday reality of the city of Londrina – as well as in Brazil. This has led ministers and the faithful to adopt actions that go beyond the spiritual sphere, addressing situations like hunger, unemployment, drug use and addiction. But, what motivates these churches to work with the social welfare work area? What are the consequences of these actions for the social welfare work policy? These are the questions we intend to deal with, raising new inquiries |
| Portuguese abstract | Ao longo dos últimos 30 anos, observamos mudanças significativas no campo religioso protestante, como a “pentecostalização” dos grupos históricos protestantes, a ampliação da presença na arena política e, o que nos interessa desenvolver nesse artigo, as mudanças no comportamento das igrejas evangélicas pentecostais em face dos dos problemas sociais que se apresentam no cotidiano da realidade do município de Londrina e do Brasil. Isso tem levado pastores e fiéis a adotarem ações que vão além de uma resposta na esfera espiritual a situações como fome, desemprego, uso e dependência de entorpecentes químicos. Mas, qual a motivação dessas igrejas em estarem voltando-se para a área sócio-assistencial? Quais as conseqüências de suas ações para a política de assistência social? Questões que pretendemos abordar, suscitando novas indagações |
