| Spanish abstract | El texto se ocupa de mostrar cómo del siglo XVI a nuestros días, los itinerarios y el sentido del viaje -de la peregrinación, a los viajes de estudio y de ahí al Grand Tour, con más destinos, y de este a los de placer- han cambiado y con ellos también la escritura. El deseo de sentir y la expresión de los sentimientos de viaje propiciaron una nueva escritura que conllevó la presentación de nuevos códigos estéticos. El artículo refleja cómo hasta las primeras décadas del siglo XIX el relato científico de viajes se enorgullecía de la parquedad de sus enunciados y de su falta de estilo y cómo, desde finales del siglo XVIII y comienzos del XIX, el viaje se convirtió en una provincia de la literatura en donde el tema de la impresión impone una nueva escritura. “Las impresiones dejaron de tener otra utilidad que no fueran ellas mismas. Se convirtieron en una finalidad, lo que el viajero había partido a buscar con el solo propósito de gozar de ellas.” Bajo el signo del romanticismo, los más grandes escritores se abocaron al género. En estas páginas se percibe la evolución del relato que va de la calidad de los objetos observados al estilo del observador, en donde la dimensión artística cobra una gran importancia |
| English abstract | The text shows how since the 16th century, the itineraries and meaning of the trip -from pilgrimages, to study trips and from there to the Grand Tour, with more destinations, and from the to latter to pleasure trips- have changed and therefore, the way they are written about. The desire to feel and express travel feelings led to a new form of writing involving the presentation of new aesthetic codes. The article reflects how until the first decades of the 19th century, the scientific travel story prided itself on the parsimony of its statements and its lack of style and how, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, trips became the province of literature in which printing required a new form of writing. “Impressions ceased to have any other usefulness than themselves. They became an end in themselves, which travelers had started looking for with the sole purpose of enjoying them.” Under the sign of romanticism, the greatest writers devoted themselves to the genre.
