| English abstract | The height of mango trees is, in general, of the order of 10 to 12 m, with a crown diameter of 7 to 10 m, a size that is not compatible with management practices such as phytosanitary spraies and harvest. The reduction of the crown of the mango tree to half its size would permit a higher plant density per hectar, a greater facility of management practices, like harvest and deseased branch pruning. As a consequence a higher yield is also expected. This note is presented with the aim of discussing this issue |
| Portuguese abstract | O porte da mangueira, atinge normalmente a altura de 10 a 12 m e um diâmetro de 7 a 10 ou mais metros, dificultando os tratos culturais, fitossanitários e a colheita. A redução da copa da mangueira à metade de suas dimensões, leva a uma maior densidade de plantas por hectare, maior facilidade de tratos culturais de colheita e da poda dos ramos atacados pela seca da mangueira. Como consequência a produtividade também é maior. Com essa finalidade é apresentada a presente nota |
