| Spanish abstract | La infección por VIH y su enfermedad asociada el SIDA se han convertido en una de las principales causas de muerte a nivel mundial. Han sido muchos los esfuerzos para tratar de erradicar esta enfermedad mediante tratamientos terapéuticos sin haber sido posible alcanzar este objetivo. La selección de variantes resistentes así como el desarrollo de reservorios virales están entre las primeras causas de las fallas en las estrategias empleadas para el control de esta enfermedad. En este trabajo se presenta una visión general y resumida de la biología de este virus y como esta ha influenciado en el desarrollo de la resistencia a los fármacos antirretrovirales |
| English abstract | The HIV infection and its disease associated, the AIDS, is in the top of the death causes around the world. Several efforts have been done to try to eradicate the AIDS disease, without a successful end. The selection of resistant viral variants and the viral reservoirs in the host are some of the first failure of the therapy regimens used against AIDS. In this work is presented a general and compact view of the biology of HIV and how it influence the resistance development to antirretroviral drugs |
