| English abstract | The article examines the construction of a critical discourse regarding the transformation of the theatre and the arts in the last decades, in face of the rising use of medias such as video, film, computer, and internet, as well as the incorporation of digital media in the process of creation of theatre works, performances, and interactive installations. It focuses on the question of presence, or rather on its alleged undermining, as a result of the mediatization of the arts. The reappraisal of phenomena of presence is discussed by means of the analysis of the intermedia work of the North American company The Builders Association, whose performances stand out for its full integration with technology and for its truly interdisciplinary collaboration practice |
| Portuguese abstract | O artigo examina a construção de um discurso crítico sobre as transformações da cena teatral e das artes nas últimas décadas a partir da crescente utilização de mídias, como vídeo, cinema, computadores e internet, e da incorporação de mídias digitais no processo de criação de espetáculos, performances e instalações interativas, focando na questão da presença e de seu suposto esvaziamento em decorrência da midiatização da cena. A reavaliação dos fenômenos de presença é discutida mediante exame do trabalho intermídia do grupo norteamericano The Builders Association, cujos espetáculos se destacam por uma cena plenamente integrada à tecnologia e por uma prática de colaboração verdadeiramente interdisciplinar |
