| Spanish abstract | La conq uista de Amé rica tuvo función evangelizadora ; por eso, las órdenes religiosas marcar o n presencia. Además de su labor misionera, ejercieron actividades productivas, contribuyendo al sostén material de la comunidad. Las labores agrícolas de producción de ali mentos y variados objetos para el desarrollo de la población estuvieron centralizados en los conventos, que fueron escuelas de oficios trasmiti dos por los religiosos a los naturales y esclavos. P rogresivamente , se convirtieron en actores fundamentales en e conomía y educación. El Reino de Chile contó con estas instituciones y las jesuíticas abundaron y descollaron dentro de su territorio, incluyendo la Provincia de Cuyo en el Chile Trasandino. | English abstract | America ́s conquest had an evangelizing role , therefore, the r eligious orders marked their presence. In addition to his missionary work, they exercised productive activities, contributing to the material support of the community. Farming and food production for the development of the population were centralized in convents, which we re transmitted by trade religious schools to natural and slaves. Gradually, they became key players in the economy and education. The Kingdom of Chile had these institutions and the Jesuit abounded and excelled within its territory, including the Province of Cuyo in the Trans - Andean Chile. The estates of Calera, El Buen Viaje and Puyuta were three references that merit consideration |
