| Spanish abstract | La actual imagen urbana del centro histórico de Tuxtla Gutiérrez es el resultado del deterioro de su tejido urbano, hecho que ha provocado progresivamente la pérdida de identidad de sus habitantes. Este artículo tiene como objetivo mostrar el proceso de desarrollo de un método de catalogación que permita poner en valor el patrimonio arquitectónico tradicional construido en tierra de uno de los barrios de mayor tradición y, a su vez, más devastado del centro histórico, el Barrio de Santo Domingo. Se plantea como hipótesis que la definición de este método permitirá generar un modelo de protección de este patrimonio que tenga como consecuencia la progresiva recuperación de las raíces que dieron origen a la ciudad. El método debe permitir, en primer lugar, identificar y poner en valor los tipos edificatorios a nivel funcional y los tipos constructivos vinculados a la construcción en tierra y, en segundo lugar, detectar un patrón de lesiones común en el tejido urbano. Esta aportación, que pertenece a un trabajo de investigación más amplio, podría suponer una base metodológica para lograr una regeneración urbana integral del barrio. Esto es debido a que la puesta en valor del patrimonio construido va ligada a la dinámica de usos y por tanto a la cultura local, lo que equivale al reforzamiento de la identidad de sus habitantes y a la mejora de su calidad de vida |
| English abstract | The current urban image of the historic center of Tuxtla Gutiérrez is the result of the loss and deterioration of its built heritage, a fact that has progressively caused the loss of identity of its inhabitants. This article aims to show the process of developing a cataloging method that allows to value the traditional earthen architectural heritage of one of the oldest neighborhoods and, in turn, the most devastated of the historic center, the Barrio de Santo Domingo. It is hypothesized that the definition of this method will generate a model of protection for this heritage that has as a consequence the progressive recovery of the roots that gave rise to the city. The method must allow, in the first place, to identify and value the building types at the functional level and the construction types linked to the earthen construction and, secondly, to detect a common pattern of injuries in the urban network. This contribution, which belongs to a broader research work, could provide a methodological basis to achieve a comprehensive urban regeneration of the neighborhood. This is due to the fact that the value of the built heritage is linked to the dynamics of uses and therefore to the local culture, which is equivalent to the reinforcement of the identity of its inhabitants and the improvement of their quality of life |
