| Spanish abstract | Durante el siglo XX, el mundo fue testigo de grandes atrocidades, causadas por el irrespeto a la diversidad en cualquiera de sus manifestaciones; es por ello que la Declaración Universal sobre la Diversidad Cultural, firmada en el 2001, es un logro, que si bien no ha resuelto muchos de los problemas existentes al respecto, es un paso firme en la búsqueda de soluciones. Hoy, nuestro continente presenta una nueva diversidad étnica, nuestra composición no es solo de aborígenes, afro descendientes y blancos, desde mediados del siglo XIX, comenzó la migración de hombres y mujeres procedentes de la región Asia Pacifica, del cercano Oriente, de la región del Indico, que trajeron su cultura, sus creencias que llegaron con la idea de mejorar sus condiciones de vida. Han dejado su huella, son parte de nosotros, por lo que es importante conocerlos a través de los estudios académicos y desde las comunidades |
