| Spanish abstract | Este trabajo ilustra el papel que jugó Ciudad Bolívar en el proceso de planificación del desarrollo industrial de Guayana a mediados del siglo XX. Destacamos los lugares otorgados a la ciudad en el pensamiento y las ejecutorias oficiales y locales en el marco del desarrollismo militar durante el período 1952-1958. Demostramos que desde algunos ámbitos de la planificación, el carácter portuario de Ciudad Bolívar fue considerado en la proyección de Guayana, aunque sin solución de continuidad. De modo que la investigación pone de relieve elementos incidentes en el declive económico de esta localidad que no logró hacerse un espacio en la dinámica de crecimiento que convocó a otras zonas de su región y del país |
| English abstract | This work illustrates the role played Ciudad Bolivar in the planning process of industrial development in Guyana in the mid-20th century. We highlight the places given to the city in the thought and the official and local enforceable within the framework of the military development during the period 1952-1958. We demonstrate that since some areas of planning, port character of Ciudad Bolívar was seen in the projection of Guyana, but without solution of continuity. So research highlights incidents elements in the economic decline of this town that failed to make a space in the dynamics of growth which called on other areas of their region and the country |
