| English abstract | The text of the Book of Isaiah 6.1-13 reports Isaiah’s vocation. Isaiah sets his vocation during the time of king Uziah’ death. As prophet, Isaiah is visionary and messenger. In the visionary condition, Isaiah has an experience which call him in order to announce word of Iahweh. The present article presents a study of Isaiah’s text. Methodologically it resorts to the tools of the exegesis. The text makes part of the first set of chapters (1 - 39) attributed to a prophet who acted in the Kingdom of Judah. Though the report is not in the beginning of the book, the vocation concerns the beginning of the prophetic activity of Isaiah. His calling to be a prophet takes place in a vision. This vision has his place in the temple. As part of the mission received by the prophet, there is the announcement of the destruction of Jerusalem. However, the destruction will not be total. | Portuguese abstract | O texto de Is 6,1-13 relata a vocação de Isaías, que ambienta seu chamado por ocasião da morte do rei Uzias. Como profeta, Isaías é visionário e mensageiro e, nessa condição, tem uma experiência que o vocaciona para o anúncio da Palavra de Javé. O presente artigo apresenta um estudo do texto de Is 6 e, metodologicamente, recorre às ferramentas da exegese. O texto faz parte do primeiro conjunto de capítulos (Is 1-39) atribuídos ao profeta que atuou no Reino de Judá. Embora o relato não esteja no início do livro, a vocação diz respeito ao início da atividade profética de Isaías. Seu chamado para ser profeta acontece numa visão, que tem seu lugar no templo. Como parte da missão recebida pelo profeta, há o anúncio da destruição de Jerusalém, porém a destruição não será total. Um resto permanecerá como semente |
