| English abstract | Revelation 1,9-20 is a narrative of John’s prophetic commission. John presents his visionary experience, which has determined the composition of the entire book, that is, the epiphany of the Risen Christ who commissioned him to write down the Revelation he was given, and sent it to the Seven Churches. The Risen Christ is presented with the imagery of the epiphanies of the Old Testament. John utilizes and transforms creatively this imagery in order to point out new elements of the Christian message. The narrative form he used is the prophetic call narrative, but in the apocalyptic setting it describes the glorious being of the vision. Furthermore, the first person singular in the narrative is to convey to hearers the storyteller role as an indispensable link between the divine realm and the human one. In this way, the message presented in the Book of Revelation is divinely mediated and made visible to us by John’s mediation |
| Portuguese abstract | Ap 1,9-20 é uma narrativa da comissão profética de João, que descreve a experiência visionária que determinou a própria composição do livro, isto é, a epifania do Cristo exaltado que o comissiona para escrever a revelação que lhe foi dada e enviá-la às sete igrejas. A apresentação do Cristo exaltado é feita a partir de imagens derivadas das epifanias da tradição bíblica. João utiliza e adapta criativamente essa tradição para expressar os novos elementos da mensagem cristã. A forma narrativa utilizada deriva das narrativas de vocação dos profetas, mas, no contexto apocalíptico, descreve o personagem glorioso que aparece na visão. Além disso, o uso da primeira pessoa do singular na narrativa destaca o papel indispensável do narrador como ligação entre a esfera terrena e a divina, de forma que o que temos no Apocalipse é mediado divinamente e visibilizado pela mediação de João |
