| Spanish abstract | Esta investigación analiza el comportamiento del mercado de las drogas ilegales en Uruguay en el siglo XXI El trabajo examina la evolución de la oferta y la demanda de sustancias psicoactivas, considerando dos eventos cardinales en la historia reciente del país: la asunción del Frente Amplio a la Presidencia de la República en 2005 y la aprobación de la ley de regulación de la marihuana en 2013. El estudio aplica un diseño exploratorio cuantitativo en series de tiempo. Uno de los hallazgos es que el mercado de las drogas ilegales en el país viene incrementándose constantemente desde principios del presente siglo |
| English abstract | This paper analyses the behavior of the illegal drug market in Uruguay in the 21st century. It studies the evolution of the supply and demand of psychoactive substances considering two major events in the recent history of the country: the Frente Amplio’s winning of the elections in 2005 and the approval of the regulation law of marijuana in 2013. A quantitative exploratory design in time series was used. One of the key findings is that the illegal drug market in the country has steadily increased since the beginning of this century |
