| Spanish abstract | El voto por internet suscita ciertas dudas sobre la protección del secreto del sufragio ya que, al ejercerse fuera de una casilla, facilita coacciones de terceras personas sobre el votante y, al transmitir el contenido del voto junto con los datos de identificación, abre la puerta a eventuales intromisiones que obvien el necesario anonimato. La secrecía del voto se encuentra amenazada, pero algunos países han intentado solventar el problema con medidas que el texto analiza especificando cuáles incorpora el proyecto mexicano. Se debate asimismo sobre la verdadera razón de ser del secreto del voto, es decir, un interrogante teórico frecuentemente olvidado y que de hecho debería ser el punto de partida para abordar el caso del voto por internet |
| English abstract | Internet voting raises some concerns regarding the secrecy of the vote. Given that such internet ballots are cast from unsupervised environments, bribery and blackmail become easier and, if the vote’s value is transmitted in conjunction with the ID credentials, it is also obvious that the anonymization might be breached by third parties. The secrecy of the vote is therefore a main challenge for any internet voting project and those countries using this voting channel have developed some solutions that the text analyzes. It also determines whether Mexican authorities have included them. Finally, the paper provides an overview of the still on-going debate of the actual usefulness of the secrecy of the vote. This issue is often forgotten tough it should be the starting point to know how to save the secrecy within internet voting projects |
