| Spanish abstract | La cirugía estética es uno de los mejores ejemplos del empoderamiento actual de la salud. Ha sido vista con recelo por considerar que se expone al individuo sano a un riesgo innecesario. El cuerpo se ha convertido en el depositario de la belleza, que en la sociedad moderna tiene un valor comercial. La bioética ha centrado su atención en la libertad, autonomía y la justicia distributiva. México ocupa el quinto lugar mundial de cirugías estéticas. La vulnerabilidad es una condición inherente del hombre en su existencia y marca el límite de la dignidad humana. De acuerdo con la UNESCO existen individuos más propensos a la vulnerabilidad. El objetivo de este trabajo es demostrar que los sujetos que acuden al cirujano estético son una población vulnerable por haber cedido a la presión social y por problemas psicológicos |
| English abstract | The cosmetic surgery is one of the best examples of the current health empowerment. Aesthetic surgical interventions have been criticized because it exposes the healthy individual to an unnecessary risk. In the modern society the body has turned into a beauty depository with a commercial value. In the published bioethics papers, the cosmetic problem pointed their attention on the freedom, autonomy and the distributive justice. Mexico occupies the fifth world place of cosmetic surgeries. The vulnerability is an inherent condition of the man in his existence and marks the limit of the human dignity. UNESCO agrees that some populations are more inclined to vulnerability. The aim of this work is to demonstrate that those who wish to make a physical change had give up to social coercion and psychological problems |
