English abstract | Epilepsy is a progressive and disabling disease if not diagnosed early; for this reason, it has been the subject of research, specially in cases with idiopathic etiology. Approximately between 1 and 2% of the world population have epilepsy. In Mexico the prevalence is from 10 to 20 patients per 1000 inhabitants. Lately, the scientific community has been trying to create, adapt, and use biomolecular tools to study its pathophysiology so that, hopefully, in a near future we are able to intervene in the natural history of this disease. The aim of this work is to cite evidence about some of the molecular biology techniques in order to support and encourage investment in neurogenomical research; as a necessary tool in the study of epilepsy |
