| Spanish abstract | Se presentan los dos primeros casos de angiomixoma agresivo en hombres, detectados en el Hospital General de México. El primero se trató de un hombre de 69 años, presentó aumento de volumen de región inguinal, diagnosticado clínicamente como hernia. El segundo, un individuo del sexo masculino de 32 años con aumento de volumen en región escrotal diagnosticado como linfadema. El angiomixoma agresivo. Es un tumor de los tejidos blandos pélvicos y perineales, localmente agresivo, no metastatizante. Se presenta con mayor frecuencia en mujeres; es menos común en hombres y, en éstos, al parecer tiene un mejor pronóstico, de ahí uno de los intereses de presentar estos casos. Este tumor debe diferenciarse de mixoma intramuscular, neurofibroma mixoide y angiomiofibroblastoma, todos ellos tumores benignos sin capacidad de recurrencia o invasión local. Los angiomixomas agresivos pueden ser confundidos con neoplasias malignas debido a su capacidad infiltrativa y a que pueden alcanzar gran tamaño. Por lo anterior, su reconocimiento es importante para establecer el pronóstico y tratamiento adecuado |
| English abstract | The two first cases of aggresive angiomyxoma treated in men at the General Hospital of Mexico are presented. The first was in a man 69 years old, who presented an increase in volume of the inguinal region, clinically diagnosed as in hernia; the second case was in man 32 years old with an increase in volume of the scrotal region and diagnosed as lymphedema. The aggresive angiomyxoma (AA) is a tumor of soft tissues found in pelvis or perineum, locally aggressive but non metastatic, and is frequently found in women but rare in men. It seems to have a better prognosis in men, that is why we are presenting these cases. The tumors in both genders must be differentiated from intramuscular myxoma, myxoide neurofibroma and angiomyofibroblastoma, all benign tumors, which do not present any risk of recurrence or local invasion. The AA can also be mistaken for a malignant tumor, since it can grow and infiltrate surrounding tissues. It is therefore important to recognize it to establish the prognosis and adequate treatment |
