| Spanish abstract | Las anomalías Müllerianas son un grupo heterogéneo de malformaciones que ocurren en formas variadas, como agenesia útero-vaginal, disgenesias, septos vaginales, útero unicorne, didelfo, bicorne, septado y arcuato y con manifestaciones igualmente diversas, como amenorrea primaria, disfunción sexual, dolor y masas pélvicas, endometriosis, hemorragia uterina anormal, infección, aborto recurrente espontáneo, o partos prematuros. Aun así, es posible encontrar cerca de un 50% de alteraciones uterinas simétricas asintomáticas. Las anomalías Müllerianas sintomáticas ameritan un diagnóstico diferencial juicioso y oportuno y un tratamiento quirúrgico apropiado. En este artículo se revisan las diferentes malformaciones, junto con la etiología, el diagnóstico y las opciones de tratamiento actualmente disponibles, con base en la experiencia del autor en el servicio de Ginecología y Obstetricia del Hospital Militar Central de Bogotá y en la revisión de la literatura |
| English abstract | Maldevelopment of the Mullerian ducts are a group of heterogeneous anomalies that occur in a variety of forms like Mullerian agenesis, disgenesis, vaginal septum, unicornuate uterus, didelphic, bicornuate, septate, and arcuate. They usually come to medical attention when become problematic with primary amenorrhea, sexual dysfunction, masses and pelvic pain, endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, infection, recurrent abortion, or preterm deliveries. However it is possible to fi ne nearly 50% of asymptomatic symmetric uterine alterations. The symptomatic Mullerian anomalies require surgical correction, after a comprehensive preoperative evaluation to understand fully the possible diagnoses. This review outlines the diverse abnormalities, etiologies, modes of diagnosis, and treatment options according with the author experience in the department of Obstetric and Gynecology, Hospital Militar, Bogotá, and the current literature available for Mullerian anomalies and pregnancy |
