| English abstract | The medial relation between realism and photography is widelydiscussed. This article argues that also the romantic art can beconceived, at least partially, through its position towardsvisibility. It will analyze this subject in a historical context where the social differentiation and the optical media resultin a questioning of observation and perspective. | Portuguese abstract | A relação medial do realismo com a fotografia é um aspecto muito discutido. O presente artigo pretende mostrar que também o romantismo pode ser concebido, pelo menos parcialmente, por suas posições referentes à visibilidade. O presente trabalho analisa este campo em um contexto histórico em que a diferenciação social e os media óticos levam a um questionamento amplo do olhar e da perspectiva.
