| English abstract | A study was carried out to diagnose the level of knowledge of Family Physicians belonging to the University Policlinic "Mártires del 4 de Agosto" of Guantánamo, regarding the use of Salvia officinalis L in the treatment of climacteric syndrome, after determination of the content of phytoestrogens from their leaves. The sample of the plant was taken in three municipalities of the province. The universe was of 223 doctors who work in the Primary Care of Guantanamo municipality, being the sample constituted by 89 doctors, who are applied a survey on the use of phytotherapy. There was insufficient knowledge of the use of medicinal plants and, specifically, the plant under study. The results obtained evidenced that Salvia officinalis L presents a high phytoestrogen content for the phytochemical screening in San Antonio del Sur, this is a valid alternative in the therapy of replacement or preventive treatment of several pathologies proper to the disease without adverse effects. |
| Spanish abstract | Se realiza un estudio para diagnosticar el nivel de conocimiento de los Médicos de Familia pertenecientes al Policlínico Universitario "Mártires del 4 de Agosto" del municipio Guantánamo, con relación al uso de la Salvia officinalis L en el tratamiento del síndrome climatérico, previa determinación del contenido de fitoestrógenos de sus hojas. La muestra de la planta fue tomada en tres municipios de la provincia. El universo fue de 223 médicos que laboran en la Atención Primaria del municipio Guantánamo, quedando la muestra constituida por 89 médicos, a quienes se les aplica encuesta sobre uso de la fitoterapia. Se apreció insuficiente nivel de conocimiento del uso de las plantas medicinales y, en específico, la planta objeto de estudio. Los resultados obtenidos evidencian que la Salvia officinalis L presenta un alto contenido de fitoestrógeno para el tamizaje fitoquímico en San Antonio del Sur, esta es una alternativa válida en la terapia de reemplazo o tratamiento preventivo de diversas patologías propias de la enfermedad sin efectos adversos. |
