| English abstract | The pharyngostoma or Pharyngocutaneous fistula was detected clinically by the appearance simultaneously with saliva swallowing in the neck. A study on morbidity pharyngostoma in the Department of Otolaryngology, at General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto "in Guantanamo is done . The study group consists of 65 patients who underwent total laryngectomy in the period 2001 to 2010, settling two groups taking into account the presence or absence of pharyngostoma complicating and in order to identify the incidence and predisposing factors in their appearance. Data were obtained from medical records taking into account the epidemiological variables, nutritional status, prior radiation treatment or tracheotomy, sutures and postoperative stay. Fistulas were present in 18.46% of cases, of which 58.3% had received prior radiotherapy and surgery as tracheotomy 66.6%, the mean postoperative stay was 21 days. |
| Spanish abstract | El faringostoma o fístula faringocutánea se detecta clínicamente por la aparición de saliva simultáneamente con la deglución en el cuello. Se realizó un estudio sobre la morbilidad de faringostoma en el Servicio de Otorrinolaringología del Hospital General Docente "Dr. Agostinho Neto" en Guantánamo. El universo de estudio está constituido por los 65 pacientes operados de laringectomía total en el período de 2001 al 2010, conformándose dos grupos teniendo en cuenta la presencia o no de faringostoma como complicación y con el objetivo de identificar la incidencia y los factores favorecedores en su aparición. Los datos se obtienen de las historias clínicas teniendo en cuenta las variables epidemiológicas, estado nutricional, traqueotomía o tratamiento radiante previo, suturas y estadía postoperatoria. Las fístulas estuvieron presentes en el 18.46 % de los casos, de ellos el 58.3 % había recibido radioterapia previa de la operación y el 66.6 % tenía traqueotomía, la estadía postoperatoria promedio fue de 21 días. |
