| English abstract | The behavior of euthyroid goiter morbidity in the "Ramón López Peña" Polyclinic University of Caimanera municipality, Guantanamo province, is analyzed during the years 2009 and 2012. A universe of 35 patients is studied. It is a descriptive investigation obtaining the information of the medical records in the medical offices. The following variables were analyzed: age, sex, type of goiter, complementary examinations and morbidity. Of the studied patients, there was a greater percentage in those who had an age between 19 and 29 years, more in women and the adult population with euthyroid goiter. There is a high morbidity of simple goitre, obtaining the normal results of the thyroid hormones to which it was done. Ultrasound reported the thyroid characteristics. Goiter is considered endemic in the study municipality. |
| Spanish abstract | Se analiza el comportamiento de la morbilidad de bocio eutiroideo en el Policlínico Universitario "Ramón López Peña" del municipio de Caimanera, provincia Guantánamo, durante los años comprendidos entre 2009 y 2012. Se estudia un universo de 35 pacientes. Es una investigación descriptiva obteniéndose la información de los expedientes clínicos en los consultorios médicos. Se analizan las siguientes variables: edad, sexo, tipo de bocio, exámenes complementarios y morbilidad. De los pacientes estudiados hubo mayor porcentaje en los que tenían una edad entre 19 y 29 años, con mayor cantidad en mujeres y, de ellos, los de la población de adultos con bocio eutiroideo. Existe alta morbilidad de bocio simple, obteniéndose los resultados normales de las hormonas tiroideas a quienes se lo realizaron. El ultrasonido nos informó las características de tiroides. Se considera que en el municipio de estudio existe bocio endémico. |
