| English abstract | The purpose of this study is to take the negative and positive perspectives of what is known in the literature dedicated to producing interpretations of Brazil as Iberism, through a reading of its mars in the work of Francisco José de Oliveira Vianna. The research aims at clarifying the outlook of the Iberist political practice, whose conservative submission by the rule of reality, moves liberalism into the future. The goal is to dissociate it from the deterministic character with which it is often associated, attempting to provide an understanding of the so called Iberian option highlighting its characteristic of choice |
| Portuguese abstract | Este estudo tem por objeto a tomada das perspectivas negativa e positiva do que se convencionou chamar, na bibliografia dedicada à produção de interpretações sobre o Brasil, de iberismo, através de uma leitura de suas marcas na obra de Francisco José de Oliveira Vianna. A investigação visa ao esclarecimento dos contornos da prática política iberista, cuja submissão à regra conservadora da realidade, desloca o liberalismo para o futuro. O objetivo é o de dissocia-la do caráter determinista que lhe é frequentemente associado, intentando-se, assim, fornecer uma compreensão da chamada opção ibérica que sublinhe sua característica de escolha |
