| Spanish abstract | El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo estudiar las tendencias educativas que ejercieron su influencia en la educación venezolana en la primera mitad del siglo XX. El marco histórico que sirve de justificación al desarrollo de las ideas expresadas es el que ocurre tras la muerte de Juan Vicente Gómez, momento en que comenzó en el país la transición hacia la democracia, tal como lo señalan diversos estudiosos del tema. Además, se hace un análisis del debate de las ideas pedagógicas en el período que va desde 1936 hasta 1950 porque en ese espacio de tiempo hubo una propuesta concreta acerca del tipo de ciudadano que se quería para el país y que estaba muy ligado a las nuevas tendencias educativas. El debate se planteó en diversos sectores de la sociedad y salieron a luz pública conceptos como los de ciudadanía, democracia, educación para la libertad y el de Escuela Nueva. A partir de tales discusiones y apoyándose en las nuevas corrientes ideológicas, la sociedad venezolana fue forjando un perfil de ciudadano y un nuevo modo de hacer educación |
| English abstract | The present work has as objective to study the educational tendencies that exercised its influence in the Venezuelan education in the first half of the XX century. The historical mark that serves from justification to the development of the expressed ideas is the one that happens after Juan VicenteGómez’s death, moment in that the transition began in the country toward the democracy, just as diverse specialists of the topic they point out it. Also, an analysis of the discussions of the pedagogic ideas in the period that goes from 1936 to 1950 because in that lapse of time there was to it sums up proposal about citizen’s type that was wanted for the country and that it was very bound to the new educational tendencies. The debate thought about in diverse sectors of the society and they left to light public concepts like those of citizen, democracy, education for the freedom and New School. Starting from such discussions and leaning on in the new ideological currents, the Venezuelan society was forging citizen’s profile and a new way of making education |
