| English abstract | This paper analyzes the environmental profile of the municipalities that perform the removal of dust ceríferocarnauba, the states of Piauí, Ceará, Maranhão and Rio Grande do Norte, with reference to the years 2002, 2008 and2009. Specifically, it identifies the municipal structure for environmental management, and the principal environmentalpolicy instruments (regulatory and economic) municipalities in these incidents. We also use secondary data relating to theBasic Municipal Information Survey of IBGE. It is concluded that there was an increase in the use of these instrumentsbetween 2002, 2008 and 2009, verifying wider application of environmental policy in the cities studied |
| Portuguese abstract | Este artigo analisa o perfil ambiental dos municípios que realizam extração do pó cerífero da carnaúba, nosEstados do Piauí, Ceará, Maranhão e Rio Grande do Norte, tendo como referência os anos de 2002, 2008 e 2009.Especificamente, identifica a estrutura municipal para gestão ambiental, e quais os principais instrumentos de políticaambiental (regulatórios e econômicos) incidentes nessas municipalidades. Para tanto, utiliza os dados secundáriosreferentes à Pesquisa de Informações Básicas Municipais do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística - IBGE.Conclui-se que houve um aumento no uso desses instrumentos entre 2002, 2008 e 2009, verificando-se maior aplicação da política ambiental nos municípios estudados |
