| Spanish abstract | En este ensayo se explora la manera en que Luis Zapata combinó el melodrama cinematográfico mexicano en la escritura literaria, en la novela titulada Melodrama. El análisis se realiza en dos dimensiones. Por un lado, se explora la forma en que las características principales del género cinematográfico son retomadas en la novela. El objetivo es mostrar cómo, al insertar el tema de la homosexualidad en el esquema del melodrama cinematográfico tradicional, el escritor desestabiliza el propio género y pone en cuestionamiento sus límites. Por otro lado, se exploran los mecanismos utilizados para introducir el discurso del guión cinematográfico en el literario para crear un híbrido, que no es ya ni guión ni novela. Con ello, ambas identidades quedan cuestionadas y el lector se enfrenta con una narrativa novedosa, que modifica su saber, sedimentado por la tradición |
| English abstract | This essay explores the way in which Luis Zapata combined Mexican film melodrama and literary writing in the novel entitled Melodrama. The analysis is carried out in two dimensions. On the one hand, it explores the way in which the main features of the film genre are taken up in the novel. The aim is to show how, on inserting the theme of homosexuality in the traditional film melodrama scheme, the writer destabilizes the genre itself and questions its limits. On the other hand, it explores the mechanisms used to introduce screenplay dialog in the literary text to create a hybrid, which is no longer screenplay or novel. Thus, both identities are questioned and readers are faced with a new narrative that modifies their knowledge, established by tradition |
