| Spanish abstract | Para alcanzar nuestro objetivo, que es mostrar el isomorfismo de las bibliotecas jesuitas, se llevó a cabo el desciframiento y la transcripción, por primera vez, de los inventarios de las bibliotecas jesuitas de los colegios de Santiago, Concepción y Castro, que se encuentran en las temporalidades jesuitas en el Archivo Nacional de Chile. Para comprender la estructura y el desarrollo de las bibliotecas de la Compañía de Jesús, se da cuenta del significado de algunos conceptos claves (scriptor-auctor/inventario-catálogo), incluyendo aspectos de la historia de las formas de cataloga-ción elaboradas por la Orden. Se presenta la carto-grafía de las bibliotecas que podían encontrarse en general en los diversos colegios y casas jesuitas, su organización y el papel del bibliotecario en relación con el acceso a los libros. Se recurre a la noción de isomorfismo que en matemáticas implica una relación de similitud entre dos objetos y que en teoría de grupos, permite deducir varias propiedades de un grupo a partir de otro. Esta noción la empleamos como herramienta para mostrar a través de la comparación entre los autores repertoriados en los inventarios y catálogos de las bibliotecas de los ocho colegios jesuitas, realiza-dos en el siglo xVIII, que ellos comparten casi 300 autores en diversas disciplinas. Este isomor-fismo de las bibliotecas jesuitas es la expresión de una experiencia común, de una tradición compar-tida y transmisible, y finalmente, lo convierte en un elemento constitutivo de la memoria colectiva de la Orden |
| English abstract | In order to show the isomorphic nature of jesuit libraries, the author did for the first time the decoding and transcription of the old handwritten inventories of the Jesuit libraries from the Santiago, Concepción and Castro colleges found in the “temporalidades jesuitas” at the National Archive of Chile (Archivo Nacional de Chile, ANCH). To understand the structure and development of libraries in the Society of Jesus, some key concepts (scriptor-auctor/inventory-catalogue) are presented and explained in the text including a reference to the history of the different forms of cataloguing elaborated by the Order. A cartography of the different libraries that could be found in all the Jesuit colleges and houses, their organization and the role of the librarian in relation to the access to books are presented. The concept of isomorphism, thatin mathematics implies a similitude relationship between two objects and within group theory permits to deduce the properties of one group from the properties of the other, is applied to the ensemble of libraries. This notion was used as the tool to show through comparison of authors, that the content of inventories and libraries catalogues from eight Jesuit colleges elaborated during the xVIII Century, share the presence of almost 300 authors, in different subjects. The isomorphism of the Jesuit libraries is de representation of an experience in common, a shared and transmissible tradition and, finally, libraries become a constitutive element of the collective memory of the Order |
