| Spanish abstract | En las ciudades de la periferia de Argentina, los procesos vigentes de transformación del espacio urbano en las últimas décadas son parecidos a aquellos que se observan en las grandes metrópolis de toda Latinoamérica. Sin embargo, como en la periferia se había conservado mucho más la estructura colonial de la ciudad, los cambios resultantes del mismo impacto son muy distintos a las grandes aglomeraciones debido a los contrastes en la situación de inicial. En el caso de San Salvador de Jujuy, el análisis factorial a nivel de radios censales prueba la fragmentación social del espacio urbano, pero manteniendo la mayoría de las características del modelo de la ciudad polarizada |
| English abstract | The processes affecting the transformation of the urban space during the last decades in the periphery of cities in Argentine are similar to those which have been observed in the metropolises of Latin America. Nevertheless, as in the periphery the colonial structure of the city in many aspects has been conserved until today, the resulting changes of the same processes impacting are quite different from the ones in the big agglomerations, due to the differences of the initial situation. In the case of San Salvador de Jujuy, the factorial analysis at the level of the census unit radio proves a social fragmentation of the urban space while the majority of the characteristics of the polarized city model are preserved |
