| Spanish abstract | El hilo rector de este ensayo es una interrogante sobre la validez del supuesto según el cual no existe, y no podría existir, algo como un teatro etnográfico, al modo, por ejemplo, del cine o el documental etnográfico. En las páginas que siguen se expone una aproximación a esta problemática poniendo en relieve las dificultades que implica representar in situ al otro. En un primer momento se evocaran casos relevantes de puesta en escena del indígena o de autorrepresentación llevados a cabo en diferentes etapas de la historia de México. En un segundo momento se exploran algunas pistas de indagación: el problema otro o la necesidad de justificar su existencia y las implicaciones de esto en la representación escénica; la interacción y mutua influencia entre las diferentes formas de representación (pintura, escultura, cine, foto). ¿Hasta qué punto el teatro, en razón de su carácter directo, viviente, encarnado resulta más o menos ficticio, más o menos realista o naturalista, que las otras formas de representación? ¿Hasta dónde representar al indígena en una escena teatral implica en todos los casos convertirlo en objeto de espectáculo, denigrar su presencia o bien acceder a un conocimiento de lo que él es y hace, cómo vive y a lo que aspira? ¿En qué condiciones es deseable y realizable un teatro etnográfico? |
| English abstract | The guiding thread of this essay is a question of the validity of the assumption that does not exist and could not exist, something like a theater ethnographic mode, for example, ethnographic film or documentary. In the following pages set out an approach to this problem by high lighting the difficulties of representing the other site. At first relevant case is evoked staging of indigenous self-representation or performed in different stages of the history of Mexico. In a second stage explores some tracks of inquiry: the problem another or the need to justify their existence and implications of this in the stage performance, interaction and mutual influence between different forms of representation (painting, sculpture, film, and photo). To what extent the theater, because of its directness, living flesh is more or less fictional, more or less realistic or naturalistic, than other forms of representation? How far represent indigenous theatrical scene involves in all cases in order to show turning, denigrate their presence or access to a knowledge of what he is and does, how he lives and what he wants? Under what conditions is desirable and achievable ethnographic theater? |
