| Spanish abstract | Desde el principio, inspirado en gran parte en la Constitución de Estados Unidos y teniendo en cuenta particularidades locales, el régimen institucional del Estado colombiano se caracteriza por una hipertrofia de los poderes del presidente de la República. La Constitución de 1991, en vigencia, reafirma el papel central del presidente delimitando sus atribuciones y revalorizando los poderes del Congreso. | English abstract | Originally inspired by the United States Constitution with adaptations to take into account local considerations, the Colombian system of government is characterised by the wide-ranging powers held by the President of the Republic. The current Constitution, drawn up in 1991, reaffirms the central role of the head of State whilst defining his powers and extends the powers of the Congress. Colombia’s Constitution draws elements from several different constitutional models to produce a unique political system that combines elements of a presidential regime and a parliamentary regime |
