| English abstract | The aim of this work is to understand why, and to what extent, family struggles in the sertão do Pajeú region in the state of Pernambuco (struggles that are locally known as intrigas or questões) are also political struggles. To approach this issue, both external and native perspectives are considered (especially the latter) concerning the meanings of family fights - not so much in order to assume one of them, but rather to be able to catch a glimpse of the relationships they bring forth. Issues concerning the nature of family struggles as they take form in the backlands of Brazil’s Northeast led me to examine each of their partial aspects. Thus, I focus on even the tiniest moments of the actualization of these struggles, instead of assuming a global point of view. This procedure brought forth a series of discontinuities, of boundaries within a social universe where relationships are.. |
| Portuguese abstract | O problema abordado aqui consiste em entender porque e em que medida as brigas de família, as intrigas e questões na terminologia do sertão do Pajeú em Pernambuco, são também brigas políticas. Para abordá-lo, considerarei perspectivas exógenas e sobretudo nativas concernentes aos significados das brigas de famílias, menos com o propósito de afiliar-me a alguma delas do que de buscar vislumbrar as relações que trazem à tona. As interrogações em torno da natureza das lutas de família tais como tomam forma no sertão nordestino levaram-me a considerá-las em suas parcialidades, deslocando minha atenção de um ponto de vista englobante de um fenômeno para os diferentes, por vezes ínfimos, momentos de suas atualizações. Tal procedimento resulta, por outra parte, em pôr a descoberto uma série de descontinuidades, de fronteiras no interior de um universo social em que as relações são marcadamente familiares e, portanto, encontram na união e na solidariedade seus valores mais enfatizados, seja na retórica social, seja nas suas análises |
