| English abstract | This paper present the first results of the research project “Conflicts, negotiations and regulation: religious conversion in the conjugal sphere”. The project, financed by the CNPq, deals with the question of the religious diversity among families and schools, and it privileges a multidisciplinary bibliography, with a strong socio-anthropological approach. The research is based on interviews, focal groups and family accounts, collected in Salvador among families of popular and intermediate levels and of different creeds. What is being searched is the comprehension of the conflicts and their forms of regulation through the analysis of a chain of meanings that can only be interpreted by the definition of the mapping of the place of each member inside the families’ web. School pops up as one of the spaces of tension, and the expectations bred by the family around it’s role, help us to understand the origins of the conflicts existing between the family and the school when religion is on stake |
| Portuguese abstract | Este artigo apresenta resultados parciais do projeto “Conflitos, negociações e regulação: conversão religiosa na esfera conjugal”, em fase de análise de dados. O projeto, que conta com o apoio financeiro do CNPq, trata da questão da diversidade religiosa na família e na escola e privilegia uma bibliografia multidisciplinar, com forte abordagem socioantropológica. Por meio de entrevistas, de grupos focais e de histórias de família, realizadas em Salvador, com famílias de camadas populares e médias, caracterizadas pela presença de vários credos, buscamos uma compreensão dos conflitos e suas formas de regulação com base na análise de uma cadeia de significados que não pode ser interpretada senão pelo mapeamento do lugar que cada um ocupa dentro da rede familiar. A escola aparece como um dos espaços de tensão e as expectativas que a família nutre sobre o seu papel nos ajudam a entender a origem dos conflitos entre família e escola quando o tema é religião |
