| English abstract | The growth in the use of social networks by young people has increased popular and scientific interest in understanding social networks, their main risks and functioning. Therefore, it is important to study them analyzed as a space for socialization, in order to understand the way in which the subject, influenced by digitalization, modifies behaviors and imaginaries. This paper presents some of the results of an exploratory study conducted on 3345 young Cubans during the months of May and July 2022, with the aim of characterizing the process of digital socialization in this sample. The results expressed in this article allow understanding the impact of the contents consumed by young people in digital social networks, in their ways of being, thinking and acting. They show a bidirectional link between the digital socialization process and the free time sphere of daily life, which is manifested in the modification of the mental models they have about spending quality free time, and in the way they use their free time with respect to the use of social networks. |
| Spanish abstract | El crecimiento del uso de las redes sociales por los jóvenes ha aumentado el interés popular y científico por comprender las redes sociales, sus principales riesgos y funcionamiento. Por lo que se hace importante el estudio de las mismas analizadas como un espacio de socialización, para comprender la manera en la que el sujeto, influido por la digitalización, modifica conductas e imaginarios. En el presente documento se exhiben algunos de los resultados de un estudio exploratorio realizado a 3345 jóvenes cubanos durante los meses de mayo y julio del 2022, con el objetivo de caracterizar el proceso de socialización digital en dicha muestra. Los resultados que se expresan en el presente artículo permiten comprender el impacto de los contenidos consumidos por los jóvenes en las redes sociales digitales, en sus formas de ser, pensar y actuar. En ellos se aprecia un vínculo bidireccional entre el proceso de socialización digital y la esfera tiempo libre de vida cotidiana, que se manifiestaen la modificación de los modelos mentales que tienen sobre pasar un tiempo libre de calidad, y en la forma en la que emplean su tiempo libre con respecto al uso de las redes sociales. |
