English abstract The present study is developed in the field of educational psychology and pays tribute to the research line on training and professional development, from the Psychology Faculty of the University of Havana. Its objective is to determine the level of development of the capacity for the search of information in students of both study modalities of this faculty (regular daytime course and course by meetings). It was used the quantitative approach, with a non-experimental transversal descriptive-correlational design. An instrument was applied to a representative sample of each academic year. The results reveal that the sample of students in the regular daytime course has a high level of development in the search for information, while the students in the encounter course have a medium level of development. It was proved that the differences between these two groups are highly significant from the statistical point of view.
Spanish abstract El presente estudio se desarrolla en el campo de la psicología educativa y tributa a la línea de investigación sobre formación y desarrollo profesional, de la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de La Habana. Tiene como objetivo determinar el nivel de desarrollo de la capacidad para la búsqueda de información en los estudiantes de ambas modalidades de estudio de dicha facultad (curso regular diurno y curso por encuentros). Se utilizó el enfoque cuantitativo, con un diseño no experimental transversal descriptivo-correlacional. Se aplicó un instrumento a una muestra representativa de cada año académico. Los resultados revelan que la muestra de estudiantes del curso regular diurno posee un nivel de desarrollo alto de la búsqueda de información, mientras que los estudiantes del curso por encuentros presentan un nivel medio de desarrollo. Se comprobó que las diferencias existentes entre estos dos grupos son altamente significativas desde el punto estadístico.
