| Spanish abstract | La oralidad y la memorización colectiva, como herramientas para la transmisión de la doctrina por parte de la Iglesia católica, de la Contrarreforma al Concilio Vaticano II, y su permanente resistencia a los cambios en los métodos de aprendizaje y enseñanza, dan cuenta de las dificultades que enfrentaron las jerarquías eclesiásticas en su lucha por mantener los privilegios de la Iglesia y refrendar su autoridad en un mundo secularizado. Este documento examina cómo el Episcopado Colombiano trató de afrontar estos problemas, buscando cumplir las exigencias de una instrucción religiosa efectiva en un contexto de relativa secularización, incipiente industrialización y un inusitado crecimiento demográfico en las principales ciudades del país, a comienzos del siglo XX |
| English abstract | Orality and collective memorization as tools for the transmission of the doctrine used by the Catholic Church, from the Counter-Reformation to the Second Vatican Council, and its permanent resistance to the changes in the methods of teaching and learning, point out at the difficulties that the ecclesiastical hierarchies had to face in their fight for maintaining the privileges of the Church, and confirming its authority in a secularized world. This document examines how the Colombian Episcopacy tried to face these problems, seeking to fulfill the exigencies of an effective religious instruction in a context of a relative secularization and an incipient industrialization, linked to an unprecedented demographic growth in the main cities of the country, at the beginning of the twentieth century |
