English abstract | The rational use of wastewater is an important concern, especially environmental, in the face of the impacts caused by its release in rivers, streams and sources of fresh water, a common practice in underdeveloped countries. One way for the use of wastewater is in fertirrigation, where several studies have proven its fertilizer effect. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the growth of a cotton crop irrigated with wastewater from domestic sewage from Campina Grande city as compared to fresh water irrigation through the temporal evolution of the biomass, leaf area and vegetation index. At the end of the vegetative cycle the crop subjected to treatment T1 (wastewater) presented fitomass of approximately 131 g plant-1, while T2 (fresh water supply) presented results around 34.9 g plant-1. The leaf area of T1, also at the end of the vegetative cycle was 5097.9 cm2 plant-1, while T2, in turn, presented only 1922.6 cm2 plant-1. The NDVI and SAVI vegetation index represented efficiently the growth of culture showing the efficiency of the use of photosynthetic ally active radiation by cotton crop of T1. Thus, the positive fertilizer effect of wastewater on the cotton crop was proved |
