| English abstract | This article intends to analyze the influence of the religion in the construction and social maintenance of the masculinity, in opposition to the social representation of the femininity, with main objective to consider tracks that contribute for the fairness of gender in the Brazilian religious field. | Portuguese abstract | Este artigo pretende analisar a influência da religião na construção e manutenção social da masculinidade, em oposição à representação social da feminilidade, com objetivo principal de propor pistas que contribuam para a eqüidade de gênero no campo religioso brasileiro. Para isso, observaremos o dualismo opositor construído historicamente na religião entre os ideais de masculinidade e da feminilidade; a função da religião na perpetuação dos paradigmas essencialistas de gênero; e as implicações sociais e políticas desse fenômeno para as relações sociais de sexo |
