| English abstract | “As mulheres que meu pai amou”, by Fátima Bettencourt, is an interesting short story that opposes concepts as identity, family and nation. A male voice tells, through the first person,., his memories about the residual image of his father. These memories conduce him to a conflict, because his father, with his polygamous nature, was responsable for a numerous family in Cape Verde, in which half-brothers and half-sisters perpetuate the transgression of their father and mothers. The characters and situations’ description allows the recognition of a universal and private human being reality and accentuates that differences and similarities are the main guides to whatever incursion by human existence in a collective sense. Cultural aspects of Cape Verde as the diaspora, the importance of female participation in society and the specificities of the islands are the points of interest that, side by side the feminist criticism focus, are developed in this analysis |
| Portuguese abstract | “As mulheres que meu pai amou”, de Fátima Bettencourt, trata-se de uma narrativa bastante interessante que confronta conceitos como identidade, família e pátria. Uma voz masculina narra, em primeira pessoa, as memórias da imagem paterna, geradora de conflito interno, dado ter sido este um homem de natureza poligâmica que construiu em Cabo Verde uma “família” numerosa, em que meiosirmãos e irmãs se fizeram perpetuadores/as da identidade transgressora de seu pai e de suas mães. A descrição das personagens e das situações permite o dimensionamento de uma realidade humanoexistencial universal e particular e acentua que diferenças e semelhanças são as principais norteadoras de qualquer incursão pelo humano coletivo. Traços culturais caboverdianos como a diáspora, a atuação das mulheres e as especificidades das ilhas são pontos de interesse que são, juntamente com o enfoque crítico-feminista, contemplados nesta análise |
