| English abstract | When adopted the gender as a cathegory of analisis, it is demonstrated the importance of the attention that must be paid to the reivindications of women as a strategic factor to the achievement of susteinable local development. Centred on this, are stressed initiatives implemented by women, besides the need of incorporation of the gender in public policies to truly achieve/ indeed, a susteinable development. | Portuguese abstract | Ao adotar o gênero como categoria de análise demonstra-se a importância da atenção que se deve atribuir às questões reivindicadas pelas mulheres como um fator estratégico para o alcance do desenvolvimento local sustentável. Com este foco são ressaltadas as ações implementadas pelas mulheres, além da necessidade de incorporar o gênero nas políticas públicas para se alcançar verdadeiramente um desenvolvimento sustentável.
