| English abstract | The aim of this paper is to analyze the dynamic in the Northeast region focusing on the labor market evolution during the period 2000-2009, using an alternative version of the shift-share methodology developed which enables the decomposition of employment variation into four components or effects: national, structural, regional and allocation. The data employed in this study are the ones from the Annual Register of Social Information (Rais), provided by the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE), which shows that the Northeast region presented a superior performance than the Midwest, Southeast and South regions, (mainly the state of Maranhão) being overcome only by the North region. The other results reinforce the importance of a regional policy considering its strong influence on job creation in the northeastern states, verified by the regional component, above 70% in all Northeastern states during the analyzed period |
| Portuguese abstract | Propõe-se a analisar a dinâmica da região Nordeste tendo como foco a evolução do mercado de trabalho no período 2000-2009, fazendo uso de uma versão alternativa da metodologia shift-share , a qual possibilita decompor a variação do emprego em quatro componentes ou efeitos: nacional, estrutural, regional e alocação. Utilizando as informações provenientes da Relação Anual de Informações Sociais (Rais) fornecidas pelo Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego (MTE), constata que a região Nordeste apresentou um desempenho superior ao das regiões Centro-Oeste, Sudeste e Sul (destacando-se o Estado do Maranhão), sendo superada apenas p la região Norte. Os demais resultados reforçam a importância de uma política regional, haja vista a sua forte influência na geração de empregos nos estados nordestinos, verificada na componente regional, acima de 70% em todos os estados nordestinos no período analisado |
