Spanish abstract Este artículo es producto de una investigación auspiciada por la Vicerrectoría de Investigación Social de la Universidad de Costa Rica. Tuvo como objetivo central rescatar, estudiar y analizar las Prácticas Curativas Tradicionales de las usuarias que asisten a los EBAIS en San Pedro, San Juan, San Diego y Concepción; así como las historias de vida de las mujeres que “soban” empachos y curan utilizando plantas y remedios caseros. Se utilizó como marco teórico la antropología médica y la teoría feminista; además, se presentan una serie de recomendaciones para mejorar la calidad de la atención de las personas quienes acuden a estos centros
English abstract This article is the product of an investigation financed by the Vicerrectoria de Investigacion Social of the Universidad de Costa Rica. Its main objective is to rescue study and analyze the traditional healing practices of the female attendants to the EBAIS of San Pedro, San Juan, San Diego and Concepción. Also give the life story of the woman that heal traditionally stomach aches and cure using plants and house made remedies. Medical Anthropology and Feminist theory were used as a theoretical framework; also we establish a series of recommendations to make better the quality of the services received by the people needing attention in these places
