| English abstract | This is a study of the various modifications that the notion of the Father has undergone through Jacques Lacan’s teachings. It starts from the father in the singular as the Name-of-the-Father, a pillar of the symbolic order and a carrier of interdiction, until it fulfills the function of “sinthoma”. From the initial father, a fundamental of the social bond reduced to a symbol, therefore dead, it goes on to a living father; from unicity to a multiplicity of ‘exceptions’ to the law; from universality to the particularity of object a that a man extracts from a woman’s body. The Name-of-the-Father multiplies in as many names as the support to its function. In its last presentation, it works as a way to connect the three registers – real, symbolic and imaginary – that each father fulfills as a man in relation to a woman and that result from the particular way in which a father can supply a non-sexual-relation |
| Portuguese abstract | Trabalharemos as diferentes modificações que a noção de Pai ganhou no ensinamento de Jacques Lacan. Partiremos do pai no singular como Nome-do-Pai, sustentação da ordem simbólica e portador da interdição, até chegarmos à sua função de “sinthoma”. Do pai inicial, fundamento do laço social reduzido a um símbolo, portanto na condição de morto, chegaremos a um pai vivo; da unicidade a uma multiplicidade de “exceções” à lei; da universalidade à particularidade do objeto a que um homem extrai do corpo de uma mulher. O Nome-do-Pai multiplica-se em tantos nomes quantos forem os suportes à sua função. Em sua última apresentação, comparece como maneira de ligar os três registros – real, simbólico, imaginário –, que cada pai realiza como homem em relação a uma mulher e que decorre da maneira particular pela qual um pai pode suprir uma não relação sexual |
