| Spanish abstract | En la presente entrevista se discute la noción de memoria en relación con la historia reciente de América Latina, con énfasis principal en el caso chileno. En la primera parte, se hace un recorrido por la trayectoria académica del profesor Steve J. Stern y su vínculo con la historia latinoamericana. En la segunda, se trabaja el concepto de memoria y se analizan sus implicancias para el estudio de la política chilena y, en la tercera, se proponen desafíos para el contexto actual y se analiza el modo en que la memoria cumple un rol necesario para comprender nuestro pasado reciente. | English abstract | In this interview it discusses the notion of memory related with the recent history of Latin America, with focus on the Chilean case. In the first part, it is a journey through the academic career of Professor Steve J. Stern and his relationship with Latin American history. In the second, it discusses the concept of memory and their implications for the study of Chilean politics, and in the third part, it proposes challenges to the current social context and it analyses how memory plays a necessary role to understanding our recent past |
