| English abstract | This article analyses the impact of the mathematical forms of world view introduced by Galileo’s heliocentric theory on the traditional structures of thought and imagination, formerly determined by mythical, biblical and literary images. Although Galileo claims that his theory is compatible with the Christian doctrine, it will be an important impulse for the new tendency of Renaissance self-fashioning of the individual and the development of psychological autonomy |
| Portuguese abstract | Esse artigo analise o impacto das formas matemáticas da visão do mundo introduzida pela teoria heliocêntrica de Galileu sobre as estruturas tradicionais do pensamento e da imaginação, determinadas outrora por imagens míticas, bíblicas e literárias. Embora Galileu clame que essa teoria seja compatível com a doutrina cristã, será um impulso importante para a nova tendência da autoformação do indivíduo no Renascimento e do desenvolvimento da autonomia psicológica |
