| Spanish abstract | La Edad de Oro del cuento latinoamericano tuvo lugar entre 1945 y 1965 con la publicación de libros que revolucionaron el género. En ese mismo período ocurría un proceso más secreto: las reflexiones sobre el cuento. Mi trabajo ofrece una breve historiografía para desentrañar, por un lado, las coordenadas que estos escritores han propuesto para el cuento, y para dar, por el otro, una mirada a los aportes más contemporáneos. Se intenta ver de qué manera la teoría del cuento pondera la lucha entre dos impulsos en el cuento como género: su vocación experimental y su afán de estructura cerrada |
| English abstract | The Golden Age of the Latin American short story took place between 1945 and 1965. During that same time, a more secret process took place: the development of the field of shory theory. This article offers a historiography of this process in order to, on the one hand, study the elements proposed by writers as constitutive of the short story and, on the other, take a look at more contemporary approaches.
