| Spanish abstract | La Argentina posee una gran diversidad territorial que plantea desafíos para la planificación del transporte interno de los bienes que se producen y consumen en el país. No existen datos sistematizados y confiables sobre los orígenes y los destinos de lo que se produce y se consume y, menos aún, por dónde se transporta. Una comprensión cabal de los flujos que configuran la red vial de transporte de cargas en el país es indispensable para cualquier intento de llevar adelante una política de transporte coherente y eficaz. En este artículo se presenta una estimación del volumen y tipo de bienes que circulan por la red vial; cuáles son los principales orígenes y destinos de estos flujos, y por último se ofrece una representación estilizada de la red vial de carga |
| English abstract | Argentina has a great territorial diversity that poses a challenge for planning internal transport of the goods produced and consumed in the country. There is no sys-tematic and reliable data on origins and destinations of what is produced and consumed, and about the path of transport flows. A thorough understanding of the flows that configure the freight transportation network in the country is essential to any attempt to carry out a coherent and effective transport policy. This article provides a description of the type of goods circulating on the road network from the point of view of the transport volume they generate; what are the main sources and destinations of this transport, and a stylized representation of the road network |
