| Spanish abstract | El presente artículo aborda el tema de la división de palabras en sílabas al final del renglón en la lengua inglesa. El trabajo recoge las reglas básicas para dividir palabras, se presentan ejemplos para proceder con estas, para lo cual se parte de las definiciones aportadas por distintos investigadores de la lengua inglesa. En la primera parte se hace una breve valoración de los criterios que tienen los estudiantes en formación inicial de la carrera Lenguas Extranjeras a la hora de realizar la división de las palabras, así como, un análisis de las causas que los inducen a cometer errores, sobre todo por interferencia de la lengua materna. En la segunda, se dan a conocer las reglas aportadas por los distintos autores y se termina con la sugerencia de que sean incluidas en el programa de estudio de las diferentes asignaturas.ABSTRACTThis article addresses division of words at the end of the line in the teaching of the English Language, making emphasis in student teachers of foreign languages. The work gathers some basic syllabication rules as well as examples on how to operate with them. It begins with definitions given by different investigators of the English language. The authors assume positions and points of view about the investigated theme. In the first part, it makes a brief appraisal of the students´ criteria when working with the division of words, together with the analysis of the causes that lead them to commit the mistakes, especially because of their mother tongue interference. In the second one, it shows the rules given by different authors and it ends with the suggestion of including them in the syllabus of the different subjectsKEY WORDS: division of words at the end of the line |
