| English abstract | Historical studies on fraternal associations constitute a challenge for Cuban historiography. The approach to the subject requires analysis from national, regional and local perspectives. Although there are studies on the Tunera lodges, they are centered on the head locality and do not contain an integral study on an association in particular. In addition, significant aspects of their social action and for the national historiography are absent or treated in a limited way, such as: the charitable work, the civic action and in particular, the one directed to the reception of Marti; as well as the support offered to the Revolutionary Government of 1959. Consequently, the objective of the article resides in revealing the contribution of the Order Caballero de la Luz to the Tunisian society. The research was based, fundamentally, on the analysis of documents produced and treasured by the fraternal association. |
| Spanish abstract | Los estudios históricos sobre las asociaciones fraternales constituyen un reto para la historiografía cubana. El abordaje de la temática requiere, tanto de análisis desde perspectivas nacionales, como regionales y locales. Aunque existen estudios sobre las logias tuneras, se centran en la localidad cabecera y no contienen un estudio integral sobre una asociación en particular. Además, en ellos se ausentan o se tratan de forma limitada aristas significativas de su accionar social y para la historiografía nacional, tales como: la labor benéfica, el accionar cívico y en particular, el dirigido a la recepción martiana; así como el apoyo ofrecido al Gobierno Revolucionario de 1959. Consecuentemente, el objetivo del artículo reside en develar la contribución de la Orden Caballero de la Luz a la sociedad tunera. La investigación se basó, fundamentalmente, en el análisis de documentos producidos y atesorados por la fraternal asociación. |
