| Spanish abstract | Este ensayo muestra algunos componentes teóricos del institucionalismo histórico comparado. Se inicia con una revisión general de la teoría donde se destaca la importancia que sus seguidores le otorgan a las instituciones en la construcción del Estado moderno, la democracia liberal y el desarrollo económico. Luego se introducen dos análisis de América Latina en perspectiva institucional comparada con Corea y Taiwán durante las décadas en que predominó el modelo desarrollista, mientras que el segundo muestra los avances del Estado en la región durante el siglo XX. En tercer lugar se presenta el regreso del Estado con un conjunto de medidas que le dan un contenido distinto a su accionar en América Latina. Por último, se muestran algunas de las limitaciones que tiene el institucionalismo histórico comparado para el entendimiento de la región |
| English abstract | This paper presents some theoretical components of comparative historical institutionalism components compared. It begins with an overview of the theory and the importance its followers give to institutions in the construction of the modern state, liberal democracy and economic development. Two analyses of Latin America are compared with Korea and Taiwan during the decades in which the development model predominated, while the second shows the progress undergone by the State in the region during the twentieth century. In addition to this, the return of the state is presented with a series of measures with a content that is different to its actions in Latin America is presented. Finally, some of the limitations of comparative historical institutionalism are shown to understand the region |
